About me

Ryan Varley at Alnwick Castle Profile Picture

I am a third year PhD student in the Astrophysics Group at University College London working with Prof. Giovanna Tinetti and Dr. Ingo Waldmann. My research mainly involves exoplanets (planets that exist outside our solar system), specifically my research interests include:

  • Analysis of exoplanet transmission and emission spectra
  • Data analysis and signal processing techniques
  • Simulation of exoplanet spectra with current and future instruments
  • Creating software to aid research (ExoDataLaTeXPy)

Along with my research i enjoy coding and web development (see ACometAppears and GitHub). I created a couple of sections for pagelines before the DMS update but since then have fell out of love with wordpress and prefer static site generation (using Jekyll).

I also enjoy photography (see my gallery).
